Ontario extends validation periods for Driver, Vehicle and Carrier Products, Services and Health Cards

To help contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation extended the validity period for driver licences, licence plate validation, Ontario Photo Cards, and Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration certificates. Due dates for medical and vision reports have also been extended.
Due to the urgency of the current situation, the Government of Ontario also announced that expiring and expired health cards will continue to provide access to the health services you need.
These changes have been made to reduce the need for in-person visits to ServiceOntario, International Registration Plan offices and DriveTest centres during the COVID-19 outbreak. They are also intended to reduce non-urgent visits to doctors offices so that the health system focus on containing the outbreak.
The length of these extensions is indeterminate. They will remain in effect until Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and public health officials deem it safe for in-person social interactions.
Full details are available at ServiceOntario.
Time critical services such as Motor Vehicle Inspection Station Stock orders and Single-Trip Oversize/Overweight permits will continue to be delivered by the Ministry of Transportation.
Ontarians are encouraged to refrain from visiting ServiceOntario centres unless absolutely necessary. Wherever possible, please complete transactions online or use the extended validation period.
The situation remains volatile: we urge you to monitor the Government of Ontario’s website, updated twice daily, 7 days a week at 10:30am and 5:30pm, ET. Full details on the state of emergency may be found here.
