The Canadian debut of the impossibly versatile Wolf Pack 27PACK10 Toy Hauler

Wolf Pack Toy Hauler in woods
The big story this year is “incredible versatility”: the Cherokee Wolf Pack 27PACK10 Toy Hauler becomes a bunkhouse at the push of a button. And that’s just the beginning of the experience.

The Wolf Pack: A Toy Hauler that sleeps more than a bunkhouse!

Load the Wolf Pack up with toys and supplies — bikes, kayaks, ATVs, chairs, coolers, grills and camping gear — whatever your adventure calls for. Unload at your destination and the Happijac Bed Lift System converts its two floor-based sofas into a queen sized bed. A second queen-sized bed, stored on the ceiling, descends to create bunk beds. Genius. A Toy Hauler that actually sleeps 10 —more than a bunkhouse!
Wolf Pack Toy Hauler, bunk beds
The Wolf Pack converts “toy space” into two queen sized bunk beds.
The aesthetics have changed too. The Wolf Pack sports a new floorplan and a homey, farmhouse vibe. Barn style flooring with light wood accents and matte black hardware are a real departure that completes a warm, welcoming feel.
The Wolf Pack has a single slide out with both a dinette and a sofa as part of the standard build. Most Toy Haulers offer one or the other. In a very smart touch, the ramp door converts into a rear patio with rails. All in, the Wolf Pack is 33’-7” x 8’-6”, with a 15’ awning with a taller axle that easily takes you off the beaten path.
Incredibly versatile and very affordable, the Wolf Pack delivers the perfect blend of toys and comfort. The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices is $48,960 — but make sure you visit the Campkin’s RV Centre booth, Hall A for special show pricing at the Toronto RV Show & Sale, January 16-19, 2020.

Enter the hand-built world of Airstream with the Bambi 16RB Travel Trailer

Airstream Bambi Travel Trailer
Renowned for a tight integration of form and function, Airstream has outdone itself with the new Bambi line. And it really comes to life with the 16RB Travel Trailer.
Featuring the iconic, curved aluminum Airstream design, these compact vehicles combine affordability with style. At 15’-11” x 8’, the Airstream Bambi Travel Trailer offers a well-planned galley kitchen with a refrigerator that runs off battery power. The dinette transforms into a sleeping space, while roll top overhead cabinets offer extra, accessible storage space. All in, it comfortably sleeps four.
The Bambi ships with a non-ducted 13,500 BTU air conditioner that includes a heat strip and manual controls. Heat strips are electrical elements that warm up and use the AC fan to disperse warm air throughout the cabin. This lets you ward off the chill without having to fire up the furnace. Its awning is made by ZipDee with Weathermax, a high performance fabric that’s water resistant and dries quickly.

Speed, Stamina and Style

Lightweight and easy to maneuver, the single-axle Airstream Bambi 16RB Travel Trailer is a killer combination of affordability and style. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $67,749 — but the Can-Am RV Centre has some great show specials planned. Visit them in Hall B and experience the Bambi for yourself.

Whether you’re a first timer or a seasoned camper, you’ll learn something valuable.
One of Canada’s best known and knowledgeable RV technicians, Jamie Russel is a certified RV Technician and G2 Gas Technician. Finding the Perfect RV: Park Models

Finding the Perfect RV: Park Models
Yes — that’s an RV! This class of vehicles is an ingenious blend of mobility and stability. Designed for seasonal use, they’re robust enough to function as a cottage, vacation resort, even a full-time dwelling yet still offer you the freedom to pick up and move.

Live the dream in a Park Model

With their open living areas, and tall ceilings, Park Models are ideal for seasonal, even year-round use. Many feature smart slide-out or tip-out bays to increase overall living space when parked, and you can install conventional appliances thanks to their 110V systems. Fully winterized units include a powerful furnace, heated tanks, additional insulation, even double-glazed windows
Park Models generally have the hitch assembly and wheels removed and a skirt installed once they reach their destination. and are connected to the campground or park’s utilities and plumbing. And when you long for a new landscape, you can still just pack up and go. Beautiful.

Settle in with a Destination Trailer

When the destination, not the journey is your dream, consider a Destination Trailer! Designed for long stays – not long drives, they’re heavier, roomier, have higher ceilings and are often more “house-like” than most RVs.
Destination Trailers can be towed by a heavy-duty vehicle and don’t require a special highway permit. Self-contained, not tied down, they can use campground hookups or their own holding tanks and power. At 32-41ft, they can sleep up to 8.
If you’d love to settle in for a season or two in the mountains, at the beach or a special lakeside overlook, this may just be the perfect RV for you.

Finding the Perfect RV: Fifth Wheels and Motorhomes

Finding the Perfect RV: Fifth Wheels and Motorhomes

If you’re new to RVing, all the models and vehicles can be overwhelming. Last week, we ran through Travel Trailers. Let’s take a look at Fifth Wheels and Motorhomes.

The sumptuous world of Fifth Wheels

Designed to be towed by a pickup truck, Fifth Wheels (FW) are luxury on wheels! Built with a raised forward section, they offer a spacious, split-level design. Most include a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom as well as outside storage space.  Some have as many as four slide-outs you can activate with the push of a button. These RVs get their name from the hitch that attaches to their towing vehicle. Ranging from 21-40 ft, they’re surprisingly easy to handle and can sleep 8.

Transportation and living space rolled into one: Motorhomes

If you’re looking for a vacation vehicle that’s easy to drive and comes furnished with all the comforts of home, Motorhomes might be the RV for you. Motorhomes are divided into three categories: the roomy Class A; compact Class B camper vans and the truck-like Class C.

The super-luxurious Class A

The largest of the motorhomes, the Class A is roomy and luxurious. A master bedroom suite, full size kitchen and bathroom, entertainment centre, laundry, central heating and air conditioning, many also have multiple slide-out sections for additional living and sleeping space. Ranging from 21-45 ft, with tons of storage space, some can accommodate ten people! These vehicles have strong, heavy-duty frames and are built on a large chassis, similar to those used by 18-wheelers. They can easily tow – even carry — a small car or trailer, so you can bring along a boat, golf cart or snowmobile. Class A  Motorhomes are available with either gas or diesel engines.

Cleverly designed and economical: The Class B

Class B Motorhomes – also called camper vans – may look like an oversized van from the outside, but don’t be fooled! A raised roof means they’re tall enough to stand up in and they can sleep up to 4 people. At 16 to 21 ft long, most include a small kitchen, living room and bathroom with a shower. Class B Motorhomes are the easiest to drive, park and can navigate the windiest mountain or back country roads. They’re the easiest on fuel and, as the least expensive motorhome, easiest on your budget. You’ll often see the Class B doing double duty as a second family vehicle. If you value economy, then these are for you!

Roomy and family-friendly: The Class C

Immediately recognizable with their distinctive cab and overhead bunk, the Class C Motorhome is a great choice for first-time RVers. Offering ample sleeping and storage space, as well as kitchen and bathroom facilities, many also have a slide-out option that can add up to 3-½ ft of living space by shifting the exterior wall. Ranging from 21-35 ft, they’re easy to park and can navigate side roads. There are both gas and diesel models, either of which can easily tow a small car, snowmobile, ATV, canoe.

Finding the perfect RV: Travel Trailers!

toy hauler
New to RVing? The Toronto Fall RV Show & Sale, October 18th-20th is a great place to begin. Featuring the largest selection of RVs and the best deals of the season, it brings together hundreds of new, pre-owned and floor models of every major brand and type. There’s something for everyone!
So much to choose from: where to start? With so many models and brands, finding a vehicle that works for you can feel a bit overwhelming. RVs can be broken down into a few categories – to keep it simple, let’s keep it to these: Travel Trailers, Fifth Wheels, Motorhomes and Park Models, so let’s start there.
  • Travel Trailers are hitched to a vehicle.
  • Fifth Wheels have a raised forward section and a special fifth wheel hitch so they can be towed by a pickup truck.
  • Motorhomes combine the vehicle with the living quarters — some can even haul the family car.
  • Park Models are designed for long-term or permanent placement and are installed on-site.
Let’s take a quick look at Travel Trailers.
The uber-towable Travel Trailer The most common RV, these adorable, uber-towable Travel Trailers (TT) come in endless variations. Kitted out for sleeping, showering, dining, cooking and entertaining, some types feature garages, rooftop patios, bay windows, fireplaces, offices, hideaway beds, sides that expand and roofs you can lower. Customize to your heart’s content. They typically range from 12-35ft . Some can sleep as many as ten people. Surprisingly spacious Fold-Down Campers
Lightweight enough to be pulled by most vehicles, these tidy little rigs offer a surprising amount of interior space when set up. Fold-Down Campers (FD) are also referred to as fold-out campers, tent trailers, or pop-ups. These affordable trailers feature partial canvas or vinyl construction and collapse down into small, light, packages for easy towing and storage. Most models include kitchen, dining and sleeping facilities. Some include a slide-out section that adds floor space in the centre of the unit. A great first trailer, they can sleep up to 8 and run 15-23ft.
The best of both worlds: Hybrids
Hybrids (EXP & HYB) combine a hard-sided travel trailer with a tent camper. Ends pull out to provide extra space for front and back sleeping room. Expandable Hybrids offer all the amenities of a travel trailer – and sometimes even extra space for living and dining rooms. They’re easy on the budget, can sleep up to 8 and range from 19-29ft.
Small but mighty Toy Haulers
If you’re an outdoor adventurer, a Toy Hauler (TH) might be the RV for you! Beds, dinettes and couches fold against the interior walls of this snappy little vehicle, leaving lots of rear cargo space for your toys: ATVs, dirt bikes, jet skis, canoes, snowmobiles, motorcycles. It’s the perfect way to bring both the comforts of home and outdoor gear to your favourite off-road destinations. Toy Haulers can sleep up to 8 people and range from 19-39ft.
